What’s A Digger Derrick?

A digger derrick is a type of vehicle that allows you to dig holes, lift heavy materials, and hoist long objects like utility poles. The digger derrick is a crane-like vehicle with a huge boom on it, and its primary tool is the auger, a drilling device. The boom and auger are powered by a heavy and powerful hydraulic system. Digger derricks can dig holes quickly, efficiently, and cost-effectively. Wilco Manufacturing has various kinds of amphibious digger derricks.

Why Would You Need One

The various uses for this piece of equipment include, but are not limited to,  telephone pole and electrical pole installation and trimming tree branches.  Depending on the size of the auger a digger derrick can dig a hole up to 18 inches round and 10 feet deep. It can dig the holes for the poles and then lift and place them in the ground. Some digger derricks have man lifts which allows them to transport workers to great heights to trim tree branches.
